Praised for their “dexterity and breathtaking perfection” by French critics and for their “emotionally compelling and masterful execution” by the San Francisco Examiner.com, San Francisco-based Aleron Trio draws audiences with their unique energy and commitment to performing. Representing three continents - Europe, North America and Asia, the international ensemble is committed to exploring each of its member’s cultural background and musical heritage in order to bring together audience members of different communities in the Bay Area and beyond. Aleron Trio has been invited to attend the Chamber Music Residency at the Banff Centre this summer as well as the Britten–Pears Young Artist Programme at Aldeburgh Music in England, where they will work with the renowned Pavel Haas Quartet and Klára Würtz. The trio is passionate about finding and creating new collaboration opportunities with composers, musicians and artists of different genres and disciplines in order to communicate with diverse audiences. As winner of the 2014 Berkeley Piano Club Competition, Aleron Trio began the new year with a performance as featured Emerging Artists and looks forward to bringing music to Bay Area audiences throughout the next season as the official Ensemble-in- Residence of the Old First Concert Series in San Francisco. Dedicated to bringing new music to their audiences, Aleron Trio recently commissioned the first piano trio from Bay Area-based Persian composer Shahab Paranj, entitled A Bitter Letter. The trio gave the world premiere performance of this work in San Francisco on the Old First Concert Series (read review here). Aleron Trio looks forward to collaborating with Bay Area chamber orchestra One Found Sound next season to perform the Beethoven Triple Concerto on the finale concert of the trio’s Old First Residency. The trio will go on to perform the work with the Venice Symphony Orchestra in Florida. In the spring of 2012 Aleron Trio completed a residency with the Southeast Iowa Symphony that included educational outreach presentations at 17 schools and community centers and culminated with three performances of the Beethoven Triple Concerto. The ensemble has toured internationally to critical acclaim, performing in France for three consecutive summers in cities including Avignon, Dijon and Paris at the American Cathedral. Last season the trio participated in the Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Seminar and Festival with the Alexander String Quartet and has returned to perform this year again. During the summer of 2013 Aleron Trio performed in Stanford University’s Bing Concert Hall as part of the St. Lawrence String Quartet Chamber Music Seminar and Festival. Dedicated to teaching and education, Aleron Trio has led chamber music master classes for the Alexander String Quartet at San Francisco State University and has coached student chamber ensembles from the Crowden School in Berkeley. Formed in 2010, Aleron Trio has been mentored by faculty members at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as members of the Alexander and St. Lawrence String Quartets. Aleron Trio is a fiscally sponsored affiliate of the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music.

 

Individual Biography

Solenn Séguillon

  • Parisian violinist Solenn Séguillon performs nationally and internationally as a soloist and chamber music musician. She has appeared as soloist with several symphony orchestras including the American Philharmonic, the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, the Southeast Iowa Symphony and the Bear Valley Music Festival Orchestra. Peter Jaret of Classical Sonoma wrote of Solenn’s performance of Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, “Even in the highest register, her tone was warm and musical. There were moments when the audience seemed to be barely breathing, the hall was so quiet.” As violinist of the San Francisco-based Hurd Ensemble, Solenn enjoys pushing the boundaries of contemporary music by performing original works by the ensemble’s founder that unify the worlds of electronic and classical music. Solenn also enjoys performing as an orchestral musician, previously serving as concertmaster of the Unesco Orchestra and most recently performing with the San Francisco Symphony. While living in Europe Solenn participated in festivals and master classes with renowned musicians such as Pavel Vernikov, Natalia Gutman and Vadim Repin. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as a student of Axel Strauss.  www.solennseguillon.com

 

Anne Suda

  • Cellist Anne Suda has been praised for bringing a fresh and contemporary sound to her repertoire with the Northwest Reverb writing of her interpretation of the Debussy Cello Sonata, “Cellist Anne Suda read so much contrast into the score, intermittently I felt I wasn't hearing Debussy at all, but discovering his lost contemporary genius…it was the freshest I’ve heard.” Anne performs as a solist and chamber musician throughout the country and abroad and has appeared with symphony orchestras including the American Philharmonic, the Southeast Iowa Symphony and the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, with which she has performed four times. Anne recently served as Artist-in-Residence at Western Illinois University where she gave a solo recital and master class for university cellists. As cellist of contemporary chamber group Nonsemble 6, Anne has performed Schoenberg’s Pierrot lunaire memorized and fully staged throughout the country at venues including Kennedy Center. Anne received her Bachelor’s Degree from Vanderbilt University with a double major in English Literature and her Master of Music Degree from San Francisco Conservatory as a student of Jennifer Culp. Sophie Xuefei Zhang

  • Chinese-born Canadian pianist Sophie Xuefei Zhang has collaborated with Kim Kashkashian, Jean-Michel Fonteneau, Ian Swensen, Jodi Levitz, Bonnie Hampton, as well as members of the Juilliard String Quartet, Windscape and Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society. Sophie has served as artist-in-residence with her piano duo at Conservatoire de musique et d'art dramatique du Québec (Rimuski) for the 2012-2013 season. First-place winner of the Beijing district of Concours de Piano Sino-Francais "MIDO" and the First-place winner of the national Canadian Music Competition, Sophie has been heard at Beijing Concert Hall, Toronto's Arts and Letters Club, George Weston Recital Hall at Toronto Centre for the Arts, Rolston Recital Hall at The Banff Centre, CBC's Glenn Gould Studio, and Canadian Opera Company's Richard Bradshaw Theatre; as well as Beijing Music Radio Station FM97.4 and CBC Radio Soundstreams Canada. Winner of Felix Galimir Chamber Music Award in 2008, she received full scholarship to attend the Chamber Music program at The Banff Centre. Sophie holds a Bachelor of Music degree from University of Toronto with a minor concentration in Fine Art History and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music.
